About TRC Outdoor
Founded in 2010, TRC Outdoor’s roots are servicing residential and multi-family properties. We work on the principle of providing value to our customers through communication, on time scheduling, and results-based performance. Prior to expanding in 2010 TRC operated for 15+ years servicing our own properties. That experience gives us the knowledge to understand what our customers require from their own landscaping service. We have grown from a small two man shop in Brentwood to two locations in Fenton and Chesterfield and a staff of over 50.
About the Owner/President, Chris Rhodes
I am a native of St Louis and I have always considered this my hometown. My love of the outdoors started at a young age, cutting neighbors grass before I could even drive. I went to Chaminade College Prep and used to race home from school to go to work, which would continue well after dark. After I graduated from Chaminade, I went off to DePauw University and earned degrees in Economics and Conflict Studies. I spent several years working for other businesses learning both the right and the wrong way to operate. I carried these experiences with me to TRC. My vision for our company is to provide a superior level service for a good value. Meet Our Team
Gretchen Schmidt:
Gretchen has a Masters Degree in Public Policy Administration and spent most of her career doing financial and accounting work for non-profit organizations. When her brother Chris asked her to join the team at TRC a little over three years ago, she happily made the switch to the public sector. She’s currently tasked with doing the accounting, bookkeeping and IT Systems work at TRC and other companies in the TRC family.
Emilie Montoya:
Emilie has been an integral part of TRC Outdoor since 2016, bringing with her just under a decade of industry experience. As the Office Manager, her role extends far beyond answering phone calls and responding to emails. Her daily tasks include generating work orders and coordinating job schedules to managing communications with our crew and customers, handling vendor payments, and overseeing various HR duties.
Joe Viehman:
Joe brings over 15 years of industry experience to TRC, having joined our team in 2019. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Missouri State and a Management degree from HEC Liège in Belgium. Joe’s contributions to TRC include 3D design, sales, project management, and customer relations.
Matthew Daniels:
Matthew started in the landscaping industry in 2010 as a laborer and has been expanding his knowledge and skills ever since. In January of 2024, Matthew joined TRC Outdoor as a sales and project manager. His love for the outdoors drives his enthusiasm for building some of the best landscapes around. With a commitment to understanding clients needs and executing projects with precision, Matthew is a reliable team player.
Jane Sharp:
Jane has been in the landscaping industry for 20 years, 11 of which she spent running her own landscaping business. In 2019, she joined the team at TRC and has been designing and creating beautiful projects ever since. Jane thrives on engaging with clients, regardless of project size, and finds immense satisfaction in transforming their visions to reality. Her passion for creating inspiring landscapes makes her an invaluable member of the TRC team.
Sarah Olmstead:
As the Manager for Bright House Living, Sarah interacts directly with contractors, clients, and vendors to bring great customer service to all of our clients. In addition to ordering supplies and managing inventory for Bright House, Sarah is a great help with landscaping as well. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from SEMO and a Master’s in HR Development from Webster University, along with certifications including CPSI, AFO, ISA Certified Arborist-MW-5962A and Certified Organic Landcare Management.
Julia Knoll:
Julia is the newest member of the TRC family, having just graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a B.A. in Strategic Communication and a Marketing minor. With broad experience in social media, both personally and professionally, Julia was brought on to increase brand awareness and improve our online presence. Her tasks include photography of projects, content creation, website management, and client relations.
